Cheap Billiard Tables
There seems to be a consent argument as to whether a pool table is the same as a billiard table. If one looks at
the tables in a bar these are pool tables, and then go to a billiard hall, then you might be able to see the
difference, if there is one. Some claim a billiard table has smaller balls than a pool table. Smaller balls make it
a tougher game to play.
Choosing the right cheap billiard tables will take a bit of thinking and research. One must first decide how
much to spend and the other would be the quality of the billiard table, as well as how much room one will have to
set up the table. Remember there has to be a certain amount of clearance for the cue sticks. You do not have to buy
the most expensive billiard table, not unless you can afford it.
There are a lot of department stores that carry cheap billiard tables. On an average though these are for
children, maybe you want to buy one for a child but remember they do not have real slate. They use a synthetic type
slate, or a ‘honeycomb’ table top. They are nice for kids, but for adults these would not do. When one buys cheap
billiard tables they will have to assemble it yourself. Most billiard table should be put together by a
professional and then the price goes up for the labor.
Unfortunately cheap billiard tables do not last as long as a more expensive one. They might last a few years and
the price tag is usually about seven to eight hundred dollars, if you have to have someone put it together for you
the price goes up by about two hundred dollars. Some cheap billiard tables can be found through people that have
placed ads in the newspaper or online.
Mostly these types of cheap billiard tables are made in someone’s garage or small workshops. Some will try and
convince you that a one piece of slate on the table top is just as good as three pieces; this is where a lot of the
price is slashed. This is not true, but if wanting the table then buys it.
Many will opt for buying cheap billiard tables that are used. Buyer beware is often quoted. If going this route,
check all of the components and make sure the table top is level. Some will sell you cheap billiard tables and
claim they have a solid slate top, check it out. Most do not have it, but then again some do.
There are just not many places that sell cheap billiard tables cheap. The price tag on a brand new one will
start around three or four hundred dollars and go up. Some of them are even in the thousands. But then again, a
real nice billiard table can set you back more than three or four thousand dollars and that is one that does not
have a lot of pretty wood and extras.
